Marble Machine built and composed by Martin Molin
Video filmed and edited by Hannes Knutsson
Rube Goldberg would be in awe of the engineering complexity in this marvelous music machine that creates sound with 200 marbles! Its wooden parts are carved and Molin built it after drawing the design in 3-D software. It’s programmable, and he can change keys midsong. Take a look at videos about the process of creating the machine on Molin’s website.
VERY cool though I don’t think this will be used in marching bands. For those interested in alternative musical instruments, Google “HumanBeamz” for a slightly higher-tech – though no less interesting – type of instrument.

This is some music box. I bet he was one of those kids who couldn’t sit still in class (not that sitting still is a great thing anyway) Brilliant and fun to watch and listen to. Wonder what else he’s building.

Wow! That is amazing — not only to conceive it, but to build it, and it works! What’s next for this man?
