Frankly Freddie – How Long was she Contagious?

Dear Human-beings and other fans,

My human is finally feeling more normal . . . as least for her as I’ve never been completely convinced she was “normal” to begin with.  The virus that took up residence in her body at end of December lasted for a month . . . and  then triggered  fibromyalgia symptoms.

The good news was Canines don’t catch human virus.

The bad news was nothing I could do would persuade her to let me take her for walks.

For all my fans I found this very short video that explains some disconcerting flu facts . . . for humans

Skunk Bear YouTube

The CDC says she was contagious one day before she started feeling sick and up to seven days after. If you’re a kid, elderly, or have a weak immune system, you can be contagious for even longer.

She’s no kid but she is elderly and has a weak immune system so for all I know she’s still contagious.  When I take her on walks I’ll keep her on a short leash.

Frankly,

    • Dear Bernice Bernstein, anonymous human-being,
If your family thinks you need a leash they should get you one instead of just talking about it. There are now leashes to match your harness which all humans NEED.

  1. Wicket, the Bichon-Poodle mix, here. Finally, we dogs are getting our say. The old man, who takes for me walks only when my mistress prods him enough, was glad to hear that your mistress is feeling better, Freddie. Oh, and before she goes ballistic about his neglect, I’m being a little harsh on the old guy. He does takes me on regular walks, rubs my belly, and gives me lots of treats!

    • Dear Wicket the Bichon-Poodle mix here,
Keep telling your “old guy” to keep up the walks, rubs and treats . . . old people need to be frequently reminded that it’s not their own belly that needs rubbing. I’m glad you wrote to me because we are both mixed as opposed to humans who are simply mongrels.

    • Dear Mama C., human being,
I told my human you’re glad. I make sure she gets the flu shot that is especially for seniors and stronger than the regular shot. She doesn’t like to be referred to as a “senior” as that apparently is as sore a spot as where she receives the flu vaccine.

    • Dear Ms Leggy P., human-being,
I relayed your message to my human – that you’re glad she’s feeling better and she should be kept on a short leash. She only appreciated half of your sentiments . . .
